EDUCATION. SUPPORT. EMPOWERMENT.

Trauma-Informed Education & Support
for Post Adoptive Families in California.

Trauma Education Support Services

We provide life-changing trauma-informed education and support services to post-adoptive families in California.

When you welcomed your little one into your home, did anyone hand you a manual with instructions on how to be an ideal parent? Of course not! We know this because we've been in the same boat.

Though parenting doesn't come with a manual, there are still evidence-based strategies that you can use as adoptive parents. By utilizing trauma-based training, our parent coaches will assess a family's dynamics, capacities, and obstacles to aid in transforming their home into a tranquil atmosphere. We educate and support parents on how to handle the difficulties of their kids' behavior so everyone can live happily together.

OUR SERVICES

At Trauma Education Support Services, we prioritize tailoring our offerings to fit the unique needs of your family.

We believe that your input is crucial in this process and will work closely with you to ensure that we address your specific concerns and goals. Our family support coaches are dedicated to providing you with the tools and skills necessary to navigate trauma and its effects, all while offering real-time support during or around crisis.

We recognize that each child's behavior is a direct result of their experiences, and our services aim to help them heal and move forward. Our family support coaches will be with you every step of the way, providing daily living activities and skills such as homework assistance, running errands, and calming stressful moments that are specific to your family's needs. By seeking to remove daily stressors for you, we hope to give you more time to devote to your family.

Our services extend to the entire family unit, ensuring that everyone is supported in the healing process. We coordinate and collaborate with all community services and resources to ensure that you have access to the best possible care. Additionally, we offer stress-reducing services such as mindfulness, EMDR, massage, meal delivery, house cleaning, and more, depending on your family's unique situation. We also provide special activities such as online support groups, trainings, parent respite, and child retreats to further support your family's journey.

Common Questions

  • Families with adopted children aged eighteen or under often face the risk of separation, placing their whole family in a state of distress. In these cases, the child typically exhibits intensely disruptive behaviors and may have already been diagnosed and tried various mental health treatments without success. As such, it becomes increasingly difficult for families to cope with this situation. That's where we come in.

  • TESS offers families free services and has the capability to subsidize additional counseling fees if necessary. If a family is already working with an established mental health provider, we can help cover some of their costs - allowing them to keep that relationship intact. Ultimately, our goal is for all families to get access to proper care without breaking the bank!

  • You aren't obligated to get referred by your social worker; you can refer yourself directly. If the home and child meet the essential requirements, they are certified candidates to work with TESS. As part of a local treatment team, your social worker will remain engaged in the process to customize an individualized plan that works best for all involved!

  • TESS provides wraparound services to families in Fresno, Madera, Chowchilla; Ukiah; Napa, Solano, and Sacramento.

"We could feel our teen daughter slipping away, and our family was literally falling apart. Our desire for things to change was complicated by our daughter's trauma history and we were having a hard time finding the help we needed.

On one of our hopeless days, we were directed to a wraparound service that literally saved our family. We were given a whole new way to parent, and using this paradigm, we were able to make shifts in the way we related to our daughter. We gained a relationship with her again, gained new parenting insights on trauma, and learned to love again. We will forever be grateful!"
